This course offers an in-depth introduction to a flourishing interdisciplinary sub-field of history. We will learn about the development of oral history, critically examine case studies (with reference also to oral tradition), and consider the methodological and historiographical challenges of using oral sources. The course also includes practical training in oral history, with workshops on such key skills as interviewing, transcribing, archiving and analysis.
