This course offers an introduction to theEuropean Union. We revisit the origins of the EU after World War II and thevariousstages of growth with countries joining the EU at different points intime. The course discusses the expansion of integrationthat has taken place inEurope, from the coordination of trade policies, to coordination of economicpolicies, includingmonetary policies and integration of local banking sectors,and free movement of capital and labor. The course combinesclassroompresentations and invited speakers with site visits.
