Carroll School of Management
This course teaches students how to identify legal issues in business transactions and utilize the law as part of effective business strategy, particularly in finance, accounting, and entrepreneurship. Students study substantive areas of business law, including contract law, the Uniform Commercial Code as it pertains to the sale of goods, negotiable instruments and secured transactions, commercial finance, intellectual property, real property, agency, bankruptcy and various forms of business organizations such as general partnerships, joint ventures, limited partnerships, LLCs and corporations. Emphasis is placed on student discussion of relevant business law materials, questions from the text, and relatedcurrent events.
